Potential Pegs audition each Semester the day after Binghamton University's Dollar Show in Lecture Hall, although occasionally opportunities to audition arise at other times in the Semester as advertised. 

Auditioners first introduce themselves, and then sing a song of their choice.   The group then observes as they perform a range check (singing up and down a scale to the furthest reaches of their vocal capacity), and a series of tone repetitions (in which a series of notes is played on the piano, and the candidate attempts to reproduce them).  If the auditioner passes on to callbacks, she is taught a part of a Pegs song, and attempts to blend with the rest of the group. 

The lucky girls who are chosen receive a phone call later in the evening, and report to the next rehearsal as the newest Pegs!
